Ditch your flannel and switch to a KOHA Konjac Sponge

Four Reasons Why You Should Ditch Your Flannels and Switch to a Konjac Sponge

When it comes to cleansing, we at KOHA Beauty believe that simplicity is key to happy, healthy skin. No face wipes, cotton pads or complicated regimes – we believe in eco-friendly, cruelty-free, simple skincare.

If you use a flannel as part of your cleansing routine, we’re going to tell you why you should consider making a change. Swapping your flannel for a konjac sponge is a simple change that can make a huge difference to your skin and to the environment too.

  1. Washcloths harbour millions of bacteria where konjac sponges won’t

A damp washcloth that’s left in your bathroom can accumulate millions of bacteria and mould in a matter of minutes, so you can imagine the growth of this after you’ve left your flannel out overnight. But konjac sponges are naturally antibacterial, meaning that they won’t harbour bacteria or germs in the same way.

      2. Konjac sponges are more environmentally friendly

Flannels are much kinder to the environment than face wipes or cotton pads, but they still damage the environment. To keep flannels hygienic, you should wash them on a hot wash after every use – that’s a lot of spins in the washing machine. By contrast, a konjac sponge doesn’t need washing – a simple rinse after use and hang it to dry, and after six weeks, you can compost your konjac sponge and purchase a new one. Much better for the environment!

      3.  Konjac sponges are much gentler to the skin

Flannels and washcloths are popular because they can effectively exfoliate the skin to leave the complexion bright and glowing. But on the flip side, using a washcloth can also cause friction or irritation, especially if you’re prone to conditions such as rosacea, acne or eczema. Konjac sponges are much gentler and kinder to the skin; they effectively exfoliate and cleanse at the same time, on even the most sensitive of skins.

       4.  Flannels bring external ingredients that can irritate the skin

By their very nature, flannels or washcloths have additional ingredients that can be irritable to the skin – think fabric dyes, or heavily-perfume fabric conditioners and detergents. Flannels also need cleansing products in order for them to work, which can aggravate delicate skins. By contrast, konjac sponges are entirely natural – our Pure White sponge is just 100% pure konjac root, whilst our Bamboo Charcoal sponge only has the addition of natural charcoal powder to help detoxify the skin. There’s no detergents, no perfumes, no added ingredients and no colours – and no need to add in cleansers if they aggravate your skin, as konjac sponges don’t even need cleansing products in order to work effectively.

  • I have definitely ditched the washcloth routine, as fluffy as that fancy white towel may be. I have too many popped pimples from my wash-cloth- scrubbing-teen- days> I wish i had the sponge back then as now those popped pimples are now permanent craters.

I definitely prefer the gentle exfoliation of the pure white Konjac sponge.
