However, everything has to have a downside, right? Gyms and workout spaces are unfortunately a hotbed of germs, and can therefore expose your skin to harsh, breakout-causing bacteria and other irritations, so it’s hugely important to extend your careful skincare routine to the changing rooms too. We know that you’re super busy (particularly if you have a workout regime to keep on top of, alongside your general hectic schedule!), but at KOHA, we’re all about making things as simple and effective as possible – so we’ve created a seriously simple, two-step workout skincare regime that can protect your pores as you sweat it out this summer, and is easy to complete in your changing room. Before the gym
Before you start working out, it’s vital to remove makeup and gently cleanse the skin. Makeup will mix with sweat and oil on the skin and clog up your pores, resulting in blemishes and blackheads, so a quick cleanse with soap and your sponge will help you to stay clean, clear and congestion-free as you sweat it out.
After the gym
When you’re done exercising, skin should be cleansed again to remove sweat and any excess oils produced during your workout. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel, and use a light, alcohol-free toner and hydrating moisturiser to rebalance and rehydrate your skin.
As well as taking care of your face, you should also try to exfoliate and cleanse your body to eliminate dead skin cells and impurities. Also, a moisturiser should be used routinely to rehydrate the skin, maintaining balance and promoting general health on the surface of the body.
Extra care should be taken with skin care following time spent in the pool. The modified water can strip the skin of moisture, leaving it irritated by the aggressive chemicals.
